We generally don’t care much about our hands and legs though it is as important as other parts of the body. It is our hands and legs that are involved mostly in our day-to-day activities. During summer, our skin starts changing according to the season. It becomes rough, dry and starts itching because of less moisture. So, be it whatever, the face, hands or legs, you need to take care of it at the right time. So, this module is going to help you to do the salon-style summer manicure at the comfort of your home.
Step-1: Keep the essential manicure tools handy
The first step for a manicure is to keep the manicure tools handy. The essential manicure tools are:
- Nail-polish remover and cotton swabs or pads
- Nail clippers
- Cuticle pusher and nippers
- Callous/cuticle remover
- Nail polish
- Clear topcoat
Step-2: Shape the nails
If there is any leftover of previously applied nail color, remove that using the nail polish remover and cotton swabs or pads. When choosing the nail polish remover, keep in mind that acetone-based removers work faster than the non-acetone based removers.
If necessary, clip your nails and then gently file them into your desired shape. Mostly the round-shaped nails go well with your routine than the other types because it avoids rips and snagging. Choosing the nail shape is of your preference but ensure that comfort is not sacrificed for beauty.
Step-3: Soak the nails
This is the most relaxing part of the manicure process. Put your hand in a bowl of warm or not too hot water. Add a few drops of your regular cleanser or mild shampoo along with your moisturizer to it and soak your hands for about 10 minutes. Soaking for too long might damage your nails so make sure that you don’t spend much time in soaking.
Step-4: Remove excess cuticle and callouses around the nail
Using the cuticle pusher from the manicure kit, gently push the cuticle back away from the nail. Make sure that you don’t push it too far as it can damage the growth of your nails or fray the cuticle.
- Be careful not to pull, tear, lift, force or cut into the cuticle in any way.
- Do not clip into the cuticle
- Nip off the free edge with a pair of metal cuticle nippers.
Step-5: Moisturize and prepare for polish
Give a gentle massage with creamy moisturizer or any oil for about 15 minutes to replenish the skin and prepare it for nail polish.
Step-6: Paint your nails in layers
Apply the base coat for the nails first for enhancement. Later after it dried, apply the nail color of your choice in layers because two thin coats are better than one thick coat. This will give a classy look to your nails.
Step-7: Moisturize the nails again
After the main coat nail color dried, apply the transparent nail color on it to make it withstand for weeks. Over the transparent nail color, apply the moisturizer again to experience the salon-style manicure.
Following the above-mentioned steps will provide the best salon-style summer manicure feel at the comfort of your home.
